Description
Designed by Carol Acquilano
Carol Acquilano is a painter, printmaker and bookbinder. She has a studio in the Anderson Arts building and also works outdoors en-plein-air. She is best known for her colorful expressionist style landscapes. The image for the 2016 festival poster gave her the opportunity to paint favorite scenes of the beautiful “Crescent Street”, that is known as Vick Park A and Vick Park B.
Named for James Vick, these streets were part of a racetrack on his nursery’s land. The track’s two straight-aways became Vick Park A and Vick Park B. Vick was a successful seedsman, horticulturalist and publisher of a gardening magazine who eventually sold his business to the Burpee Seed Co., still in existence today. A local hero of the Flower City.
