LILAC FESTIVAL SITE GROUND RULES

The following ground rules apply to the Festival Site within Highland Park.

    • No pets allowed. Please leave your pet at home. Pets will be turned away.
    • Bicycles, skateboards and in-line skates are not allowed.
    • Patrons can bring a small chair, umbrellas, or blankets.
    • With the exception of one sealed bottle of water, visitors may not bring food or beverages into the festival grounds.
    • Bandanas are not allowed.
    • To enhance your festival-going experience, the Rochester Lilac Festival has implemented a parental escort program, the details of which are as follows:
      • Through the hours of the Festival (10:30 am – 8:30 pm) each day:
        • Persons the age of 17 and under are not permitted unless escorted by a parent, guardian 21 of over with valid id
        • All underage persons must always remain within the company of their escort.
        • Each non parental escort may supervise up to 2 youths.
        • All persons appearing to be less than 17 years of age should be prepared to show valid identification which includes a photograph and date of birth.
        • Valid forms of identification include: Driver’s license, non-driver ID card, college ID, Passport, Visa.
        • This policy is at the discretion of the on-site security team.

PARKING & SHUTTLE

Please be aware of the changes to traffic patterns due to the Highland Park Traffic Control Plan. Follow the directions below to get to the festival effectively.

DON'T GET TICKETED OR TOWED + -

Be kind to the neighborhood and your pocketbook and obey the parking rules. Vehicles parked illegally on the side streets surrounding the Lilac Festival and Highland Park will be ticketed and/or towed.

PARKING RATES + -

Monday-Friday: $7 from 10am-2:30pm

Monday-Friday: $10 after 2:30pm

Saturday-Sunday: $10

PUBLIC PARKING + -

CONSTRUCTION + -

Rochester Events has been working closely with the City of Rochester regarding the 2023 Lilac Festival and the road construction on South Avenue and neighboring streets. The City will clean up any work being done on South Avenue for the duration of the festival, and construction activity will be minimized to lessen the impact on this exciting event!

We acknowledge congestion and traffic delays are likely. Therefore, we encourage festival visitors to utilize the available shuttle service at a variety of parking locations during the event.

BUS & MOTOR COACH PARKING + -

Motor coaches and other group tour vehicles must stop at the bus and motor coach check-in booth at the corner of Highland and South Avenues before discharging their passengers. Bus drivers will be directed to a drop off point close to the PURPLE CROSS WALK on Highland. Once passengers have been discharged, vehicles will be directed to free parking at 1201 Elmwood Ave.

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES + -

People with disabilities who have a wheelchair hang tag should use Public Parking Lot 2 and enter from
South Avenue.

WEEKEND SHUTTLE SERVICE + -

Shuttle Service to and from the Festival Site from 1201 Elmwood Ave (former location of the Rochester Psych Center) will operate continuously from noon – 9:00pm each Saturday and Sunday (9:00am on parade day Saturday May 13) with pick up and drop off at the main Festival Entrance and at Art in the Park (South Avenue and Reservoir Ave.)

Round trip shuttle cost is free for adults and children. Handicapped accessible buses are available.

Note that there will NOT be parking and shuttles from Monroe Community College this year.

PARADE DAY EXTENDED SHUTTLE HOURS + -

The parade takes place on Saturday, May 13th at 10:30 am. It will begin at South Avenue at Science Parkway, and travel down South Avenue to Highland Avenue ending at Goodman Street. High School Marching Bands, Police Pipe & Drum Corps, local dignitaries, and colorful floats are expected to participate in the parade led by Grand Marshal Dean Jones, Head Brewmaster of Genesee Brewery.

On Parade Day Saturday, May 13, shuttle service will run to and from the festival site operating continuously from 9:00am – 9:00pm.
